About Vietnam

Vietnam – a rising star in the global economy

According to the latest economic data released by the General Statistics office of Vietnam, Vietnam’s GDP in 2015 rose 6.68%, the export earnings increased 10% and the inflation rate remained below 5%. As the economic outlook of other emerging countries remains bleak, Vietnam has become a rare bright spot in the world’s economy.

As Vietnam accelerates its economic reform & opening up, the foreign direct investment has surged 17.4% to a record-high of 14.5 billion US dollars compared to 2014 and the private consumption has risen 9.3%. This huge economic growth has driven the rapid development of Vietnam’s many industries, including infrastructure, hotel & entertainment, network & communication, security, advertising, and at the same time offered tremendous market opportunities to the enterprises in the related audiovisual & lighting industries.

The following development attests to the vibrant scenarios in various vertical markets.

The Ministry of Planning and Investment of Vietnam approved various infrastructure projects. Over US$60 billion would be invested in the construction of highways, airports, ports and other public transport networks.

Vietnam is the world’s fastest-growing market in entertainment sector. Currently, there are 4,215 bars, 1,189 discos and 73 cinemas in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. Given a rising consumption power, large young population and government’s support, more entertainment centers will be expected.

Amid an increasing investment from Vietnam government in railway systems, highways, ports, aviation, banks, economic zone, intelligent building and commercial centers, there is a growing demand for security products in Vietnam. In line with the rapidly growing economy, demand for security products keeps growing.

Hotels and Resorts

Many provinces, including Can Gio, Quang Nam, Nha Trang, Vinh Thuan, Ba Ria-Vung Tau, Phu Quoc Island and Da Nang City, opened up their tourism. More hotels will be built to satisfy the increasing demand from tourists. Vietnam National Administration of Tourism estimates that Hanoi will need over 13,000 rooms for three- to five-star hotels while Ho Chi Minh City will need 7,000 hotel rooms by 2020.

The annual growth of Vietnam’s advertising market is around 17%. Domestic enterprises account for only 20% of the market share while the rest goes to overseas enterprises. Demand from advertising market is high. Currently, equipment and materials rely mainly on imports.

All the positive signs and abundant opportunities signal the perfect timing for audiovisual & lighting enterprises worldwide to enter and build their foothold in the Vietnam market. Aiming to attract and facilitate entry into Vietnam of these enterprises, the organizer, Ministry of Information and Communications Vietnam (MIC), will join hands with Vietnam’s leading telecom industry trade show, Vietnam Telecom 2017, to present the first edition of Vietnam Pro-AV & Lighting Fair 2017 on 25-27 October 2017 at the ICE, Culture Palace, Hanoi, Vietnam.
